For you all ultra-light spinners, here is one more UL rod worth adding to your arsenal of weapons.
The rod is 2 sections, medium-fast action, Toray blank with Fuji guides/seat and finished off with french cork handles. The rod is well balanced and has plenty of backbone to ensure you have enough power to fight the fight.
Model: TTS642UL Type: Spinning Section: 2 pieces Length: 6' 4 ft Lure: 1-4 g Line: 2-4 lb Rod Weight: 65g
HK$: 385
We tested the rod paired with Daiwa Tatula 2000 size spinning reel loaded with PE0.6 and 10lb FC leader - casting a wide range of lures, from as low as 2.2g all the way beyond the limit of the spec.
While casting our beloved BFS darts (4g sinking pencils), we ran into trouble (Red Drums/ Redfish) and boy they were hungry and aggressive, each battle lasted 10-15 minutes and each run over 25m, some even 50m plus sprint and boy it was a blast. The rod took the beating well and walked away with 4-5 nice size specimen, above 70cm long and one close to 90cm. These fish were caught in shallow waters and the area was full of obstacles (barnacles and rocks), the 6ft 4inch length held it high enough to clear the obstacles, however, in some of the fights it looked like clearly those obstacles could be a nightmare - thankfully we ran into no such issue.
The 642 UL is good for casting lures and could also be used as a UL Jigging rod. The length is suitable for shore or boat game.
